Squaresoft's first game for the PlayStation 2. As with FFIX, this one will be a fantasy/medieval game and not futuristic. The game will take full advantage of the PS2's graphic and sound abilites, including Dobly Digital sound for those of you with surround sound home theater setups. For those of you who don't have fancy-smancy home theaters, then it'll be a tad better than the rest of the series (well, the ones for PlayStation, SNES and NES sound isn't that great...). Although the question on a few people's minds are how they hell they expect to be able to connect the PS2 to a receiver, I can only assume that it has a digital out port... Anyway, FFX will offer limited online capabilites. The online service (via PlayOnline) will offer tips and tricks, and other things such as a beastary and maybe some sort of walkthrough. Although I'm curious where they're gonna get the money for this online service... If they make us pay for anything other than the game, I will be very upset. The current release date is set for late Summer/Fall 2001. |
